Competitors were asked to preserve the original water tank and re-adapt it to a different program without enable its primary function.
Located between the historical centre and the suburbs of Oporto, the site surroundings still reflect an important mark of a rural recent past. However, these several plantation fields tend to disappear as a consequence of the increasing pressure caused by the real estate in the last 50 years.
Our conceptual project creates an input to the primary function of the building, promoting a symbiotic relation between former and present program: a soilless hydroponic culture, that requires only water to his growing; having no need to use field terrain, being this one replaced by a self sustain water system.
